About VHCS

Overview

Vigilant Heart Charitable Society (VHCS) was established when Mrs. Maria Osawemen got inspiration to support and care for motherless, orphans and abandoned children.

She was inspired to take up this enormous responsibility in 1999 when the United Nations Women's Guild (UNWG) in Nigeria, whose objectives include alleviation of the sufferings of the disadvantaged especially women and children, suspended some critical activities in Lagos State.

The Guild provided succor for children and destitute at the Majidun Rehabilitation Centre, Ikorodu, the Corrective Centre, Remand Home, Girls' Approved School, Idi-Araba, Transit Village for Motherless Children, Idi-Araba.

Maria Osawemen, who had been an Associate Member of the Guild, took up the challenge of feeding, clothing and caring for the motherless and abandoned children in those centres.

Today VHCS is active on a number of fronts.
